History

The concept of slot machines vending souvenir tokens dates back to the 1960’s.  The early slot venders were designed on strictly mechanical technology.  They would vend a single “token” for a quarter.  These machines were extremely productive in their day.  However, as the cost of producing the “token” increased, and the “value” of a quarter decreased, it became unproductive to make just a few cents per vend.  There are still approximately 100 of these workhorses still on location around the country, with some still reporting 100,000 vends per year.  These old machines were developed to capitalize on the tourist attractions of the last generation.   With the current explosion of the tourism market, the new Surewin Medallion Vender will vastly eclipse the past performance of the early token slot venders.
